Rahul Mahajan surpasses Rakhi Sawant's popularity

Rahul Mahajan, son of slain Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Mahajan, has surpassed the popularity of item girl Rakhi Sawant as he has received 40 percent more entries than her for his televised 'swayamvar'.
Mahajan, who has decided to find his life partner through NDTV Imagine's reality show "Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega", has received 16,755 entries via phone, email and SMS, said a press release from the channel.
"I am happy with the response and I'm looking forward to finding my life partner with whom I can begin a new journey," said Rahul.
From professionals like doctors and engineers to students and artists, women from all walks of life within the age-group of 22 to 26 years have sent in their profiles with the hope to win this 34-year-old's heart. The entries closed Wednesday.
Delhi girls have topped the list with 5,063 entries followed by Mumbai, from where 4,188 entries have been registered.
Entries from cities like Kolkata, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Nagpur and Ahmedabad poured in. NRI girls from Dubai, London and US too sent in their profiles.
The show, likely to go on air in November, will search for an ideal bride for Rahul. This will be done with a nationwide audition process followed by multi-city meetings and interviews with shortlisted participants.
This would be a second marriage for Rahul, who became a known name in the entertainment sector post reality show "Bigg Boss 2".
He was earlier married to Shweta with whom he tied the knot in 2006 but parted ways with her last year.

Why Rakhi-Jaya rapport went kaput?

The reality show Bigg Boss 3 has once again brought controversy queen, Rakhi Sawant into limelight, but for this time Rakhi is not alone, she is in frame with her mother Jaya Sawant who the first contestant to go out of BB3.

Even if in reality, this mother-daughter would not speak to each other , but they will be definitely together on screen at least to degrade each other. “Jaya and Rakhi are not speaking to each other for almost a year and Jaya completely blames Abhishekh Awasthi (ex-flame of Rakhi) for her sour relationship with the daughter. In an TV interview she blamed him for creating grudges in my family,” chirps the little birdie.

“Rakhi on other side is blaming her mom for creating bitterness between her’s and Abhishekh relation.

She doesn’t want to bond with her mother. Rakhi is fed up with her family members and says that she is no more going to earn money for them and wants to live alone and happy for life time,” source added.

So now, the mystery is that who exactly is the culprit?. Is that Abhisehekh, Jaya or Rakhi herself for the separations? Only Rakhi could answer this but she was not available for any comments.

Rakhi Sawant’s mom Jaya evicted from ‘Bigg Boss’

Item girl Rakhi Sawant’s mother Jaya Friday became the first to be evicted from the “Bigg Boss” house. And her exit from the reality show was as dramatic as her entry.
When Jaya’s name was announced as the evicted participant of this week, she shed silent tears and seemed extremely disappointed. She nevertheless hugged some of the contestants and even blessed comedian Raju Srivastav when he touched her feet.

Jaya had shocked all and sundry when she was welcomed by host, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, as one of the 13 contestants of the show Sunday.

Apart from being the most unexpected participant, she also revealed her motive of going into the show - making peace with her daughter Rakhi. But alas, she didn’t get much time in the “Bigg Boss” house.

Her age and non-celebrity background became a major drawback for her in the five days that she was on the show. While she was the oldest participant, Jaya was also laughed at for her lifestyle and her failed attempts at singing and dancing.

On more than one occasion, she was also seen praying to Jesus to help her get Rakhi back. But none of it convinced her co-participants Shamita Shetty, Vindu Dara Singh, Raju Srivastav, Tanaaz Currim, Claudia Ciesla, Aditi Gowitrikar, Bhaktiyaar Irani and Rohit Verma from nominating her for eviction.

They felt she was “out of place”, “less lively” and “uncomfortable” in the presence of a much younger crowd.

The final decision, however, depended on viewer’s votes.

Before leaving, Jaya was asked to nominate one person who she felt spent most of the time in dressing up each day. And she chose fashion designer Rohit Verma. As a result, he will now have to dress up simply for the next week.

“Bigg Boss 3″, the third season of the Indian version of popular international show “Big Brother”, has various celebrity participants locked inside a specially designed house for 84 days. They give up a life of luxury to be under 24X7 camera surveillance for the show.

Big B welcomes Rakhi Sawant’s mom on ‘Bigg Boss’

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan launched the third season of the reality TV show “Bigg Boss” here Sunday night and welcomed 13 participants - including item girl Rakhi Sawant’s mother Jaya.
Jaya, who used to work as nurse to bring up her kids, was quite an unexpected participant on the show considering her strained ties with daughter Rakhi, who was a part of the show in the first season in 2006.

While Rakhi didn’t care to invite her mother to the finale of her recent “Swayamvar” show, the latter was upset that she (Rakhi) was taking the decision about her life partner without her family’s consent.

“…I thank the general public for understanding me. I am confident that I will be able to handle everyone on the show,” Jaya told Bachchan before entering the “Bigg Boss” house.

She recalled how Amitabh had given her a Rs.200,000 cheque for her mother’s well-being in the 1990s. She said: “For the world you may be a superstar, but for me you are god. You had helped my mother when she was ill and she gave you a lot of blessings.”

Dressed in a flashy, red, green and gold sari, she seemed ready to give her famous daughter a run for her money with her melodrama.

The third season of “Bigg Boss” is quite high on glamour with celebrities like Poonam Dhillon, Shamita Shetty, Aditi Govitrikar, Sherlyn Chopra, Tanaaz Currim Irani and Claudia Ciesla featuring in it.

However, with other contestants like music composer Ismail Darbar, actor-director Kamaal R. Khan, actors Vindu Dara Singh, Bakhtiyaar Irani, fashion desinger Rohit Varma and stand-up comedian Raju Srivastava, the list of men on the show failed to impress.

The first episode of the show saw Bachchan ushering in the 13 celebrities into the specially designed house in this hill station.

While all the participants will be closeted in the house for three months under 24-hour surveillance with no access to telephones or television, Bachchan will host the show on the Colors channel.

The show will air in a prime-time slot Monday-Friday but Big B will appear only in the elimination episodes every Saturday and Sunday, communicating with the contestants through a TV screen. Each week, one contestant will be voted out.

The winner will walk away with the grand prize of Rs.1 crore.

My egg-faced fiance scared baby away: Rakhi

Rakhi Sawant chose her fiance, Canada-based businessman Elesh Parujanwala, from among 16 prospective grooms on a TV show, but the item girl now says her would-be husband has “an egg-like face”.
Rakhi and Elesh are part of a new reality show “Pati, Patni Aur Woh” on NDTV Imagine, where they will be seen taking care of babies of different ages. Rakhi said the first kid was scared of Elesh because of his face.

“The kid we were given initially used to start crying whenever he used to see Elesh. I think that’s because Elesh has an egg-like face,” she quipped.

The show starts Monday at 10.30 p.m.

I’m scared to be a mother now: Rakhi Sawant

Rakhi Sawant got engaged to Toronto-based businessman Elesh Parujanwala on national television and they are now learning the hardships of parenting on a reality show being shot here. The item girl confesses she is jittery about marriage and motherhood after having to change diapers and sing lullabies for a baby boy.

“I am very scared of being a mother now. I don’t know what will happen when it happens in real life,” Rakhi said .

Rakhi is participating in NDTV Imagine’s show “Pati Patni Aur Woh” with her fiance Elesh.

The duo, along with four other celebrity couples, have been relocated to five individual villas here and they have to take care of infants as well as adolescents in the course of the show that goes on air Sep 28.

Rakhi and Elesh, who seemed quite comfortable in each other’s company, are quite upset with their experience so far after playing parents to an infant named Jai under constant vigilance of six cameras in the house.

“It’s been a very bad experience till now. It’s like ‘aasmaan se gira khajoor mein atka’. There is no enjoyment here. The only enjoyment is probably that we are together,” said Rakhi, who is sporting a new hairdo that she called “cute and Barbie-like”.

“It’s very difficult. We haven’t even got married yet. I had never imagined I’ll ever have to take care of kids like this and that too manage a kid who only cries and doesn’t sleep. I had to change nappies when the kid pees and poops. It was disgusting. I didn’t eat food for two days after that and couldn’t even sleep properly,” she whined.

The item girl-turned-actress and her fiance, whom she chose in a ’swayamvar’ on national television, are also distressed with the fact that in the process of taking care of the child, they hardly get time to know more about each other.

Said Elesh: “Finding little things about each other is the last thing on our list because there is a kid to take care of. Whatever time we have to ourselves, we either say ‘why don’t you take a shower or watch the child, or take a nap or let’s make something quickly or clean the house’. That’s all.

“We had thought we will learn a lot about each other through this show. But instead we are learning about kids and running a household.”

That is also a reason for their marriage being put on hold indefinitely.

“Wedding is a far-fetched talk right now. I have to settle down for now. And this is just our beginning. We are gradually getting to know each other. This show is teaching us a lot about life and ourselves,” said Elesh.

Added Rakhi: “Wedding is surely a long way (off).”

Rakhi is also upset at missing out the fun of receiving compliments for her dance with actress Rani Mukerji in Yash Raj Films’ just released “Dil Bole Hadippa”.

“I haven’t got any feedback. There’s no time to see TV and there is no cable connection here,” she rued as she snuggled up in Elesh’s arms.

The other four celebrity couples participating in the show are Shilpa Saklani-Apurva Agnihotri, Juhi Parmar-Sachin Shroff, Mouni Roy-Gaurav Chopra and Gurmeet Chaudhary-Debina Bonnerjee.

‘Dil Bole Hadippa!’ a huge let down

Film: “Dil Bole Hadippa!”
Cast: Rani Mukerji, Shahid Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Poonam Dhillon, Rakhi Sawant, Sheryln Chopra; Director: Anuraag Singh
Somewhere down the line in this mish-mash of “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”, “Chak De” and what have you, Shahid Kapoor, looking as intense as a man who has just discovered he has acute molar ache, scowls at Rani and says, “You should be an actress in films”.

Actress she is. And a highly competent one. Rani has worked really hard on getting the Sardar-ji’s act together. At times she’s quite funny and poignant. But her attempts go waste in a film that seems to move in a rudderless stupor.

Rani is sorely let down in her made-to-order vehicle by a script that’s as phony and pasted-on as the moustache she pastes on to infiltrate the all-boy’s cricket team helmed by a Britain-returned dude from a broken family.

Shahid’s dad Anupam Kher lives in Amritsar, while his mom, Poonam Dhillon, lives in London.

Backgrounds are not very high in the list of this messy and annoying mishmash about cross-dressing and sporting spirit. While Shahid’s character we know is from a broken home, only god and the scripwriter know where Rani’s character Veera/Veer comes from.

While Hillary Swank, as a girl dressed as a guy, got the Oscar for “Boys Don’t Cry”, Rani misses her award-winning turn by a wide margin, thanks to a script that meanders like a bumbling bumblebee which doesn’t know whom to sting.

The story of the spirited girl’s sprint into a men’s game and into the coach’s heart lacks bite and humour. The dialogues are ultra-pedestrian, some of the exchanges between the rustic Rani and the posh Shahid shamelessly taken from “Jab We Met”.

What were the makers of this film thinking? Not much, as we can easily see in the slithering progression of the material and dismaying lack of motivation. After the interval, the wobbly narration just collapses in a tired heap, with scenes in a nautanki featuring Rakhi Sawant plunging to the bottom-most rung of mediocrity.

The climactic cricket match between India and Pakistan is as exciting as watching “Kaminey” with the soundtrack turned off. In “Dil Bole Hadippa!”, the soundtrack is so loud it drowns any finer point that the narration may possess.

Don’t waste your time looking for silver linings in this dreadful cricket film. Someone said cricket is a game played by 12 fools and watched by 12,000 fools. No we know what he meant.

Elesh shouldn’t be known as my husband: Rakhi Sawant

Mumbai, They got engaged amid much fanfare on national television but item girl Rakhi Sawant is worried about her Toronto-based fiance Elesh Parujanwala.

She is worried about him accepting her sexy image, his financial independence and, above all, she doesn’t want him to be just known as “Rakhi Sawant’s husband”.

“Will Elesh be able to support me financially? I don’t want him to be known as Rakhi Sawant’s husband. I need time.

“I agree Elesh is educated and he comes from a wealthy family. But all of it belongs to his father. He has nothing of his own in Mumbai, not even a home. He needs time to settle down,” Rakhi, who selected Elesh through NDTV Imagine’s reality show “Rakhi Ka Swayamvar”, said.

She is also concerned about Elesh being comfortable with her sexy image.

“People are spreading dirty rumours about me. On the Internet they’ve morphed my face on naked bodies. Would Elesh be able to tolerate it?” asked Rakhi.

She is also disgusted by singer Mika’s attempts to gain mileage out of her name.

“I’m really tired of people using my name. I don’t want to give such people importance. I’ve learnt the hard way how to be dignified. Jesus has taught me to be calm. My good days are just beginning.”

Rakhi says she’ll marry Elesh only when he becomes economically self-sufficient.

“I don’t want him to be another Abhishek Awasthi (her ex-boyfriend) in my life. Yes, we’re engaged. I like him a lot. But how can I hand over my life to someone who isn’t earning a proper living?

“That’s why we’re going on another reality show to see whether we’re really as compatible as we seemed on ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’. I didn’t get enough time with him on that show. You and I saw his best face. Now I want to see the real Elesh.”

Her new show “Pati Patni Aur Woh”, which is likely to be aired next month on NDTV Imagine, is about parenting.

“I want to marry a man who can support me. In India, wives are supposed to be looked after by husbands, not vice versa. I don’t want him to come and stay in my house. I want to live in his house. I will wait for him to afford a house.

“I know Elesh is a decent guy. But is that enough? He has to be financially independent. He needed a place and a face to latch on to; that’s why he came on the show. Abhishek was so decent. But he was known as Rakhi’s boyfriend.”

Rakhi’s new show is about parenting, but kids give her a headache.

“I’ve a migraine problem. When a child cries, I get a severe headache. I don’t know how I’ll manage for a month with a stranger’s child.

“On top of that I’ve to cook on the show. I can’t cook to save my life. I don’t know how I’ll manage. I can’t even use make-up. Can you imagine Rakhi Sawant without makeup?” she said.

Asked how she’ll cope when she has her own kids, Rakhi replied: “Apna bachcha to har koi paal leta hai…jaanwar bhi. I don’t know how I’ll cope. I think I’m going to lose my cool completely. So far people have only seen the good Rakhi Sawant. Now they’ll see the real me.”

Speaking about ex-boyfriend Abhishek, she said: “I still consider him my good friend. I hope and pray he finds a good girl. If ever in life he needs me, I’ll always be there.

“If he needs me to be a dance partner in a reality show I’ll gladly do the needful. He has supported me a lot. I’ll always be thankful to him for getting my mother out of my life. That’s one good deed he did. If Abhishek hadn’t been there, I’d have not had the courage to break away from my family. I’d have been wallowing in mud.”

It's either kisses or brooms from Rakhi

If she likes you, she will blow kisses, else get ready to face brooms. That's Rakhi Sawant for you in a virtual avatar.

When the Bollywood's hottest 'item-girl' is angry, she will hurl belans, brooms, eggs, garbage, etc on the player.

But if the contestant manages to impress her, she will give kisses, rings, roses and even garlands in the online game show on Zapak.com.

The show, modelled on the lines of Sawant's latest reality show Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, in which she goes on a groom-hunting mission, has turned out to be a hit among her fans.

"It was designed and developed by NDTV Imagine and is conceptualised very close to the reality show. The objective of the game remains to impress Rakhi Sawant and earn maximum points to get married to her," Chief Marketing Officer of Zapak Digital Entertainment Arun Mehra said.

Her fans have received a total of 3 million kisses so far after the game was launched last month, he said.

"As the reality show is youth-oriented, this game has created quite a buzz on our portal and it remains one of the most popular games being played on Zapak.com," Mehra said.

Wannabe Saasus versus Wannabe bahu Rakhi

Rakhi Sawant is one lucky girl! This to-be-bride has managed to win the love and affection of her to-be mother-in-laws since day one. Then be it personally registering their sons for the Swayamvar; or gifting Rakhi Khandaani Kangan, these saasu mamas are all doting on Rakhi even before saat-pheres. These solicitous mother-in-laws have left no stone unturned to keep their to-be-bahu rani happy.

This time however, not one but four of Rakhi’s prospective mother-in-laws came all the way to Udaipur to meet and interact with the to be “bahurani’. Yes, the mothers of Luv, Manas, Chhitiz and Manmohan recently visited the Fatehgarh palace to meet Rakhi and spoke at length with the gorgeous damsel on the cultures and traditions followed in their respective families.

Our Canadian NRI Elesh was dejected as his parents could not make it to visit Rakhi due to visa problems and broke down in tears seeing the other boy’s mamas bonding with Rakhi. There was a huge surprise in store as the mommies of these boys go a step ahead to shower their love and gifts on Rakhi.

Luv’s mother gifted Rakhi a Ganesh idol and Kangan, Manas’ mother prepared some ghar ka khana for her bahu, Chhitiz’s mom got Rakhi some childhood memories of Chhitiz, while Manmohan’s mother got Rakhi some Holy “Gangajal’ from Rishikesh.

Our khabroo from the sets reveals that, “Bride-to-be was totally smitten by her prospective mom-in-laws and was moved to tears on being showered with lots of love.”

To find out which Saasu maa leaves a lasting impression on Rakhi Sawant tune in to Rakhi ka Swayamvar on Thursday, July 16th at 9.00 pm only on NDTV Imagine.

Rakhi ke liye tattoo karega

Rakhi ka Swayamvar on Imagine is gearing many eye balls. It is fun to see of how far these remaining 13 contestants can go for their bride. Recently two contestants were asked to prove their love for Rakhi by tattooing her name on their arms.

As per the sources, “Rakhi was doubtful about the reasons behind Aamchi Mumbai’s Pranav Damle and Kripal Singh’s participation in the Swayamvar.”

“Rakhi somehow thought that they have participated in Swayamvar only to gain fame and free publicity. To help Rakhi in the situation, Rakhi’s dost and guide on Swayamvar, Ram came up with a brilliant idea to analyze these grooms,” adds the source.

He challenged both of them to get Rakhi’s name tattooed to prove their love for her. “Kripal Singh backed out saying it will affect his future life in case Rakhi does not choose him, Pranav in order to prove his love and truthfulness towards Rakhi agreed to undergo the agonizing pain.”

Let’s hope Ram’s guidance helps Rakhi to make the right decision.
