Sanjay Dutt- Ajay Devgan to star in action movie

Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan, who got very friendly during the shoot of All The Best, are now planning to do an action film together. The actors, who both started off as action heroes will be doing the film as they feel that they haven’t been able explore many kinds of stunts which they will now do.

The film, directed by Ajay Devgan, will have stunts supervised by the best international action directors. The film will start shooting around the beginning of next year. This will be different from Devgan’s directorial debut, U Me Aur Hum in which he starred with his wife Kajol.

Movie Review: All The Best

All The Best: Total time pass flick

Starring: Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu, Mugdha Godse, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Ashwini Kalsekar and Mukesh Tiwari

Director: Rohit Shetty

Settled in Goa, Veer (Fardeen) is a singer by profession and is making a daily living out of his older brother Dharam’s (Dutt) sent pocket money. Veer has even lied to Dharam that he is now married and aiding him in all his lies is his buddy Prem (Ajay Devgan). Though in reality Veer is in love with Vidya (Mugdha) but her father hates him. Prem however is married to Jhanvi (Bipasha) who is looking after his ancestor’s outdated gymnasium. Things go awry for Prem and Veer as they end up losing a lot of money and are neck deep in debt. Just then Dharam takes a detour to Goa en route his travel to Lusoto. With his sudden arrival, Veer and Prem don’t get time to cover up their lies and Dharam mistakes Jhanvi to be Veer’s wife and Vidya to be Prem’s girlfriend. What chaotic situations it all leads to with multiple characters dropping in to make their problems more complicated forms the rest of the film.

All The Best is undoubtedly the most entertaining film amongst the 2009 Diwali releases. Rohit Shetty has yet again got it right when it comes to keeping his audience laughing without resorting below the belt humour and vulgar interludes. Witty one-liners and hilarious sequences involving Dutt and Johnny Lever have you laughing out loud. However, the first half isn’t that gripping. But the second half covers up for it with confusions multiplying and each actor also contributing his comic best. The length however appears stretched as it runs around 2 hours 25 minutes. Some gags could have been shorter one feels. Pritam’s music is perfect for the film.

Ajay Devgan showcases his improved comic timing and towers above the rest. Dutt too is in top form and entertains. Fardeen is passable. Bipasha and Mugdha don’t have much to do but be a part of the chaos which they do ably. Johnny Lever finally after a long time gets a meaty funny part and he utilizes this opportunity to the maxim. Sanjay Mishra and Ashwini Kalsekar make the proceedings funnier.

It’s a total paisa vasool entertainer and worth a Diwali outing. Go for it guys and forget your recession worries!

Ajay Devgan and team wish ‘All The Best’ to the Indian Cricket team

The star cast of Ajay Devgan’s “All The Best’ has come together in a special video wishing the Indian cricket team all the best for the forthcoming Champions Trophy.
Going with the theme of the film, ESPN sports channel recently approached Director Rohit Shetty to shoot a special video wishing the Indian Cricket team “all the best’ before they start the Champions Trophy in South Africa, which begins this week.
Ajay Devgan, an ardent cricket fan was all game and shot the video last week along with co-stars Sanjay Dutt, Bipasha Basu, Fardeen Khan and Mugdha Godse.
Rohit Shetty says, “We shot the video in Filmistan. It’s a special promo on cricket with the stars wearing masks of different cricketers and cheering the cricketers. The song is meant to wish the Indian cricketers before every game. It’s an association between the channel and the “All The Best’ team. They wanted to me to direct the promo for the Championship Trophy.”
Rohit adds, “The cast wishes the cricket team and says ‘Yeh Diwali Hogi Cupwali’ and then they start dancing to the title track.”
Set against the background of a cricket stadium, the video is choreographed by Seema Desai while Pritam has given the music.
All the dancers are wearing the Indian cricket team’s outfits. The video is currently on ESPN and News Channels.
Releasing this Diwali, “All The Best’ is a rib-tickling comedy resulting from mistaken identities and hilarious goof-ups.

Ajay Devgan whips himself black and blue in 'London Dreams'

When Ajay Devgan first heard he had to whip himself in 'London Dreams', he wasn't comfortable with the idea.

But after director Vipul Shah convinced him to do so, the actor went all out and flogged himself black and blue for hours to get a 25-second clip right.

“We had a detailed discussion. Audiences could easily end up laughing at what is meant to be a moment of extreme self-loathing. Ajay was very concerned about how he would look whipping himself on screen. I assured him that we'd shoot the sequence in a way that it would look nothing less than stunning,” director Vipul Shah said. It's a sequence where the impulsive emotional character punishes himself.

“It is sequence of repentance, but it is not religious. I saw the self-flagellation as a perfectly-defining moment for the character. It's not done with a whip. It's done with a belt. And Ajay hit himself powerfully. Once or twice I called 'cut' in more ways than one. But Ajay didn't want a cut. He didn't want to go through the experience in pieces. It was that harrowing for him,” said Shah.

“And that too for a shot which would last no more than 25 seconds on screen. I'd tell him that we should stop. But Ajay insisted we do it non-stop. We didn't want the aesthetics to be lost. I've never taken longer on any sequence.”

Shah admits that sequence goes against Ajay's image. “It's not a very macho thing to do. And it certainly goes against the image of the action hero and the comic hero. Quite naturally Ajay was zapped when he heard that he was to do sequence which required him to punish himself by whipping himself.”

The director also clarifies that the scene has nothing to do with religion and that Ajay isn't playing a Muslim character in "London Dreams". “I'd be very alarmed if people see in a religious light. It'd just show we're cynical about religion. Ajay plays a very intense and emotional character who does shock people with his extreme behaviour. I wanted to shock audiences.

"Ajay's character is on the edge. I had to show that edginess. Ajay is such a chilled-out, in-control person. He would never be expected to punish himself. But I'd rather let the character define its actions rather than the image of actor.”

The film, that also stars Salman Khan and Asin Thottumkal, is scheduled for an Oct 30 release. Does Shah expect censor trouble? “I expect trouble from the censors any time.”
Right before we see Ajay whipping himself, we get him whipping up the laughs in "All The Best". The laugh riot, which is directed by Rohit Shetty, is set for Oct 16 release.
But Shah is not at all worried.

“In a span of two weeks, audiences will see Ajay in two drastically different roles. If 'London Dreams' was funny, I'd be nervous. But mine is a completely different film from 'All The Best'. 'London Dreams' is my most intense film to date. And if Ajay is the only leading man to whip himself, I'd say he has guts,” he said.

When Bappa wished ‘All the Best’!

Trust Ajay Devgan to surprise us with the most unusual antics!
If you thought that making the most expensive Bollywood song and performing a somersault in a car for his upcoming film “All The Best’ was crazy enough, here’s some more news… The producer- actor launched the music of the film at Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak temple on Friday!
The entire team of the film, including Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu, and Mugdha Godse along with Director Rohit Shetty visited the temple on Friday morning to launch the music of the film. Giving them company were music director Pritam and Krishan Kumar representing T-Series (as head honcho Bhushan Kumar was not in town).
Bollywood stars, producers and directors visiting temples at the time of a film’s release in not a new phenomena, but a producer actually releasing the music of his film at a temple was something unheard of in Bollywood so far!
Interestingly, Ajay Devgan picked up Fardeen from his Juhu residence and went straight to Sanjay Dutt’s place at Bandra, where Bipasha and Mugdha were already present. The team then left together from Sanjay’s place for the temple at Prabhadevi; a clear sign of the camaraderie amongst the cast members.
The promos of “All The Best’ are already high on the popularity charts with their fresh and colorful illustrations and music director Pritam has created some rocking numbers for this comic caper; including 5 songs and 2 remixes packed in the audio CD.
Produced by Ajay Devgan Films and directed by Rohit Shetty, “All The Best– Fun Begins’ is a rib-tickling comedy resulting from mistaken identities and hilarious goof-ups.
Starring Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu and Mugdha Godse, this Diwali Dhamaka packs in some breath-taking locales, extravagant sets and a carnival of colors!
Looking at Ajay Devgan’s passion towards his films, we are sure that all the gods will be smiling down on him!

IPL on mind of Sanju Baba and Ajay Devgan!

Ajay Devgan and Sanjay Dutt wish to own an IPL team, according to recent reports. The duo who have become good friends after working together on All The Best have expressed their desire to buy the Ahmedabad IPL team to Lalit Modi, the IPL Commissioner.
Apparently, Modi and Sanjay met at a five-star to discuss the bidding process. They have decided to buy a team as they are both cricket fanatics. This news has come after Salman Khan met Modi, wanted to buy the Nagpur or Kochi team. So far, Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, Shilpa Shetty and Preity Zinta are the celebrities associated with the IPL.

Copycat Rock-Star: Ajay Devgan copies U2’s Bono!

Ajay Devgan as a rock star, strumming away the heated strings on stage is a hard act to swallow.
Not for Vipul Shah, who has cast Devgan as a rock-star musician in London Dreams. The gritty sweaty ambience, the riveting guitar licks, the angst-filled vocals and the screaming hysterical fans…Devgan goes through the rock motions in the film with élan.
Says Vipul, “So far we’ve only seen him in a sedate or comic image, never as someone who can cross the frontiers and do something outrageous.”
Vipul hasn’t quite converted Devgan in to an outrageously punk rock star.
“No, not quite the reckless renegade. I’ve modeled Ajay’s rock act on Bono, the Irish lead singer from U2. Bono was never your quintessential rock star. He had a more sober and a less wild image. When Ajay gets on stage in London Dreams he replicates the curbed tempered-down rock-star’s image of U2. Yes, I modeled him on Bono.”
Interestingly Salman Khan who started calling himself a “rock star’ even before the term was coined has no particular image in London Dreams.
“He plays a more improvisational musician whereas Devgan plays a more professional rock musician,” informs Vipul.
Vipul has already shot all the on-stage performances except one. “I wanted to see how the other stage performances look before shooting the last one. I was afraid they’d all look the same. But they’ve all come out differently. And Ajay looks like a rock star in the truest sense of the word.”

Ajay’s Stunt to Propose Bipasha!

Ajay Devgan has broken all records. In a never-before-seen scene in Bollywood, Ajay has proposed to Bipasha Basu in an upturned car, suspended in mid-air, in his upcoming film, All The Best.
According to sources, the stunt is quite unique and a lot of precautions had to be taken. The car was suspended in mid-air and it was quite a task for Ajay to maintain his balance as well as look romantic because it was a proposal sequence. It took a whole day to shoot and two days to plan out.

Lady with a phone: Devgan gifts Bipasha a Blackberry

Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu has got a swanky new toy - a Blackberry - gifted to her by her co-star and producer Ajay Devgan for working round the clock for his new film “All the Best”.
And though Bipasha has lost all her numbers and she can’t identify any caller, she just can’t get enough of her new phone.

“I love it! I’m going totally crazy with it. Though I’ve no numbers on it and am trying to figure it out, I just can’t get enough of it,” says the actress who finished shooting for Ajay Devgan’s comedy “All The Best” in Goa this week.

Devgan gifted the phone to Bipasha out of the blue (or shall we say, black?) on the last day of shooting for working round the clock including late nights and early mornings. In fact Bipasha kept off the phone to the extent of not even connecting with her boyfriend John Abraham who was limping around on crutches in Mumbai trying to promote his new film.

Apparently Bipasha also agreed to do an additional role in “All The Best” without charging a single penny extra.

Devgan known to be a generous producer had heard Bipasha mention she wanted a Blackberry.

The actress said: “Yeah, Ajay knew I wanted it. In fact it was he who got me interested in it. It is actually a gift in appreciation for working long hours and changing at lightning speed between shots when we had loads of work to finish. Ajay is a fabulous co-star and producer.”

Bipasha soon leaves for Hyderabad to shoot the songs for “All The Best”. On Saturday she also watched her boyfriend’s new film “New York” finally.

“I’m so proud of him,” she whispered.
