Kareena-Saif get cosy

Recently, Kareena and Saif publicly said that the two were ready to take their relationship to the next level. While this bit of news had everybody excited about an impending wedding, what the couple really meant was that they were now prepared to kiss on screen and in full public view as well. The couple was recently spotted getting cosy in public unmindful of the shutterbugs around.
This latest development however, comes as a bit of a surprise considering Kareena was embroiled in a rather embarrassing kiss-and-tell controversy a few years ago with former beau Shahid Kapur. Kissing on camera seems to be the latest fad in tinsel town.

For Salman’s show, Preity was the cheerleader

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta played the role of a perfect cheerleader for dear friend Salman Khan whose “Being Human” show at the ongoing HDIL India Couture Week here late Tuesday saw many celebrities strutting down the ramp.

Dressed in a “Being Human” sleeveless T-shirt and sporting a new look with fringes falling perfectly on her forehead, the actress looked as ravishing as ever.

Sitting with her friend choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan and fashion designer Manish Malhotra, the actress started shouting from the very first moment when Salman Khan started the show and sashayed down the ramp.

“Wow! Salman! Salman!,” shouted Zinta and continued clapping till he left the ramp.

It was not just for Salman, she also cheered for other celebrities like Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Govinda, Sanjay Dutt, Katrina Kaif, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan with equal enthusiasm.

Farah Khan and Manish Malhotra joined her and together left no stone unturned to pep up the atmosphere.

“I must tell you that my throat is already gone. I was so happy that all this shouting and cheering just happened. The show was all about being human and being together. It celebrated togetherness of the industry and this is what had me do all the shouting. But it is worth it,” Preity said after the show.

Commenting on Aamir Khan’s ramp debut, she said that the actor looked cute.

“I think he was looking very cute on the ramp. He is already so charming and you can’t take that away from him,” she said.

A kiss on forehead, from Helen to Salma Khan

This was a spontaneous gesture. The moment three brothers Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan walked hand-in-hand on the ramp, stepmother Helen kissed their real mom Salma Khan on her forehead to cherish the moment of togetherness.

The magical moment came during Salman’s “Being Human” show on the second day of the HDIL India Couture Week.

“It was spontaneous. I didn’t know what came to my mind at that moment. But it was a very proud moment for the family and just to share that moment of togetherness, I kissed Salma on her forehead,” Helen said.

This was the first time that the whole Khan family had made a public appearance together. With Salma and Helen sitting next to each other and their daughter-in-law Malaika Arora Khan and daughter Arpita cheering for all of them in the audience, the family bonding was at its peak.

“Today we had everyone here except for my father, who I am sure is sitting somewhere up above and watching us and it is him who has guided me to take this path and come up with this fashion show,” said Salman Khan.

“It is an incredible and memorable moment for me,” he added.

At the end of the show, the three brothers pushed their mothers Salma and Helen respectively to walk the ramp with them.

For Salman’s charity “Being Human” show, the Bollywood industry had come in full support with as many as 10 celebrities walking the ramp and many sitting in the audience to cheer for them.

The show saw the ramp debut of Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgn who looked a bit nervous, while Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Govinda, Sanjay Dutt, Katrina Kaif, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan walked with poise.

Among Bollywood stars who cheered for them with the audience was choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan, Bollywood actors Preity Zinta, Sushmita Sen, Amisha Patel, Amrita Arora, Twinkle Khanna, Malaika Arora Khan, fashion designer Manish Malhotra, filmmaker Boney Kapoor with his wife Sridevi and two daughters, and cricketer Yuvraj Singh.

For the show, the clothes were designed by designer duo Rohit Gandhi-Rahul Khanna, Ashish Soni, Gavin Miguel and Rocky S, among others.

Saif not flamboyant in real life: Kareena Kapoor

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor, who doesn’t like to make her private life public, has opened up about beau Saif Ali Khan and says he is not as flamboyant in real life as he looks on screen.
“Saif is very different (from his on screen image). On screen I think he is very flamboyant, but in real life he is very understated and relaxed,” said Kareena.

“He is very classy but he has an amazing charm about himself, an inherent charm which can be seen on screen. And I think that is what’s there with him personally also,” she told choreographer-director Farah Khan on STAR Plus’ chat show “Tere Mere Beach Mein”.

The episode featuring Kareena will be aired Saturday at 9 p.m.

Will visit US only for fans: SRK

After being detained for two hours at the Newark Airport in the US Saturday morning, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan said he does not feel like visiting America again.

“After yesterday’s incident, I don’t feel like stepping on American soil any more, but I will continue with my US visits only because of my millions of fans who reside in that country,” Khan told reporters Sunday, ruling out seeking an apology for the incident which was denied by US officials.

“I was treated shabbily just because I happened to have Khan as my last name… because of my name being Khan…It is a Muslim name and I think the name is common on their checklist,” said Khan, who has also figured in US magazine Newsweek’s list of 50 most powerful people in the world.

Meanwhile, US Customs and Border Protection spokesman Elmer Camacho denied that Khan was detained because of his name or Asian identity.

“The allegations are incorrect. We inspected Khan because his baggage had not arrived..its a normal procedure. His documents and papers were checked, which were found to be in correct order,” Camacho said.

Khan was detained at the airport for about two hours Saturday before the Indian mission intervened and secured his release.

He was heading for Chicago to attend Independence Day celebrations along with Bollywood celebrities Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif and Bipasha Basu.

Tired Saif Backs Away From Premiere Plans

The recent hectic round of production-related activities and marketing culminating in the painful process of pacifying the Sikh federations on the length of his beard, has taken a toll on Saif Ali Khan.
The actor is exhausted and completely not in the mood for any more events related to the film.
The premiere last night was held in Delhi instead of Mumbai. This would be construed as odd behavior considering all of Saif and Kareena’s friends together at a Mumbai premiere would have constituted almost the entire industry. And they were just a phone call away.
Says Saif, “That’s precisely why we decided not to have a premiere in Mumbai. I’d have had to call up everyone personally and ask them to come. It would’ve seemed like asking for a favor. And I don’t want anyone to watch my film out of a sense of generosity.”
The last-minute decision to shift the venue of the premiere to Delhi kept most of Saif’s colleagues out. But it didn’t stop Akshay Kumar from rooting for Love Aaj Kal from London. Akshay prophesied it would be a big hit.
Saif is delighted. “I’m so happy Akshay said that. I wish the industry would show more kindness towards films. When Kareena’s Kambakkht Ishq came there was so much negativity about it. It’s scary.”
It’s this fear of an anticipatory wail that provoked Saif to transfer the premiere venue.
“It wasn’t really a premiere in Delhi. Just a screening for people close to us,” clarifies Saif. “Only the cast and crew and people connected with the film were there. That’s the way we wanted to keep it.”
But Saif and Kareena’s friends in Mumbai are none too pleased. One of his leading ladies with whom he recently did a racy film says, “What’s the point of a premiere in Delhi when the whole industry is in Mumbai? I’d have definitely gone, for Saif and Imtiaz Ali’s sake. I want to see what they’ve done together.”
But Saif isn’t really bothered. It has been a hectic time for him. “Earlier producers like Ramesh Taurani made me do a lot of publicity for their films. Now I totally followed that model for my own production. And I’m exhausted. When I was younger I found publicity boring. Now I know better.”
The experience of producing a film has helped Saif understand the value of economizing. “I used to waste a lot of money and I’m not proud of it. It’s not about cutting corners. It’s an art to respect money. I’ve seen my wealthy friends buying the right air tickets, booking the right room at the best possible prices. We did go a tiny bit over-budget in my first production. Next time it won’t happen.”

Delhi Belly is not a sex comedy, says Vir Das

Actor Vir Das is no stranger to risque comedy, but the stand-up comedian who shot to fame with his own brand of satire is miffed with reports which brand his upcoming film 'Delhi Belly' a sex comedy.
The film which is being produced by Aamir Khan has been dogged by reports that it is a desi version of 'American Pie' with actor Ranbir Kapoor reportedly dropping out of the project because of it's X-rated content.
But Das, who is often called the 'Rusell Peters of India' sets the record straight saying, "The film is not a sex comedy, it's not a desi American pie. As far as the question of risque content goes, I am a comedian who stands up in front of thousands faking a female orgasm and the film is like a family show in comparison."
The comedy revolves around the lives of three guys played by Imran Khan, Vir Das and newcomer Kunal Roy Kapoor and the actor said that the trio had as much fun off-screen as they do on-screen.

"We had an illegal amount of fun while working on the film. Imran, Kunal and me are the same generation and totally similar people, we are game junkies and like the same kind of music, so the bonding was great," Das said.
The comedian has been signed on for the next Yashraj film which will also star Shahid Kapur and Anoushka Sharma.
A die-hard Rishi Kapoor fan, Das will also be seen in Imtiaz Ali's 'Love Aaj Kal', a film he took up just to share screen space with his idol.
"I have a small role in Love Aaj Kal, I did the film for Rishi Kapur. I am a huge fan of his. I was in London doing my shows and Imtiaz called up and told me about the role. I knew Rishiji was part of the film and said yes," the actor said.
The sets of the film again became a place for boy-bonding as the team including actor-producer Saif Ali Khan and director Imtiaz Ali bonded over comedy and cricket.
"I actually was in London for my shows when Imtiaz called me. We had fun shooting for the film. Sometimes Saif and the team would come and watch me perform. We watched some of the matches in the T20 cup together. It was fun," said Das who gave up a white collar job in banking to pursue his dream to be a stand-up humorist.
And Das is happy juggling his acting career with stand-up comedy as it gives him the "luxury of choice".
"Bollywood is not my bread and butter and that affords me the great luxury of choice. I will only do a film if I really like the role and the story. Thankfully I have been lucky and given plenty of opportunities despite the fact that I am an outsider with no godfather," said Das.
Other than his Bollywood projects Das is busy with his show 'Walking On Broken Glass' and will soon embark on a world tour with it.
"I am going to be on a world tour with my show. We are going to be performing in some 16 countries. That's easy because my comedy is not racial or topical. I talk about life, food, sex, orgasms. And people in Japan have sex as do the people in India and Pakistan," said the comedian who describes his profession as a stand-up comedian with the word "suicidal".
"My profession as a stand up comedian is suicidal. I go up in front of large audiences without a script, just relying on my instinct and improvising. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not," Das said.

Saif's beard in Love Aaj Kal stirs religious sentiments

Saif Ali Khan's ‘Love Aaj Kal’ has been in news for all the right reasons. The film has a hot onscreen pair of Saif and Deepika, the music of the film is top of the charts and the promos of the film are definitely hinting that Imtiaz Ali has got a winner this time as well. However, the film has hit the troubled waters due to Saif's 'Sardar' look in the film.
Charan Singh Sapra, the President of Punjabi Cultural And Heritage Board has objected on Saif's beard look in the film, reasoning that Sardars do not sport a trimmed beard (as carried by Saif Ali Khan in the film). Sapra has also sent a memorandum to Saif Ali Khan, Imtiaz Ali and Dinesh Vijan regarding the same. Not just that, he also added that if the said look was not corrected, then, they (members of the Punjabi Cultural And Heritage Board) will be writing to all the major Sikh organizations to protest and stall the release of the film all over the country.

Kareena’s racy secrets revealed by Saif

Saif Ali Khan could not contain the joy of Kareena joining him in the sequel to Race and spilled the beans.

Revealing he has convinced producers to rope in Abbas-Mustan again as directors and Bebo instead of Bips for the second inning of Race, Saif said the new Race would be larger than the previous one.

Well this news surely won’t go down well with the Bengali tigress, who has been slyly written-off the new Race.

We hear Saif was so convinced about the Race magic that he went out of the way to convince the producers to hire Abbas-Mustan again as directors; applauding them for doing a wonderful job on a fast-paced thriller like Race.

Saif also shocked Bipasha by writing her off the Race sequel in favor of his girlfriend Kareena Kapoor. Saif is hoping to make Race 2 bigger and better than the original thriller and has sidelined fuming Bipasha in the name of script demand.

This is not the first time Saif has miffed a reputed actress, his current co-star in Love Aaj Kal Deepika Padukone is also left fuming at Saif who goes on raving about Kareena in all his press meets and promotions for the film. This has irked Deepika to such an extent that she is telling media on how she was the original choice for Love Aaj Kal, director Imtiaz Ali and that she was offered the role before Om Shanti Om happened. Not very professional of Chote Nawaab we say, going around B-Town putting-off leading ladies is surely very ungentlemanly.

By the way, looking at the rate at which Chote Nawab is vexing his leading ladies we feel it won’t be long before he is left with no one else but beloved Bebo to work with

Playing a Sikh character was a big responsibility: Saif

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, who is playing a Sikh in some parts of his debut production “Love Aaj Kal”, says essaying the character meant a lot of responsibility for him.

“You have to work with great responsibility while playing certain characters so that you don’t end up hurting others’ sentiments. I have played the role of a Sikh gentleman in this film with sensitivity. A lot of work went behind it in order to make the character authentic,” Saif told reporters.

“We took care of the costumes, the look, mannerisms, dialect and a lot of other things like I was told not to smoke while wearing the turban while we were shooting for the film in Patiala,” he added.

“Love Aaj Kal”, directed by Imtiaz Ali of “Jab We Met” fame, also stars Deepika Padukone and is set to release July 31.

Kisses and expletives, but ‘Love Aaj Kal’ a family film: Director

Imtiaz Ali openly admits that his upcoming “Love Aaj Kal”, which stars Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone, has unabashed kissing scenes and shows the lead actors mouthing expletives, but the director insists that it will still be a complete family entertainer.

The director says he has included the so-called objectionable scenes in the movie’s promos so that people are already used to it by the time they see the film.

“See, it’s the way you put it in the film and treat it. It’s up to the filmmaker not to make his film some fodder for perversion or lechery.” Ali told .

Ali promises that “Love Aaj Kal”, which is Saif’s production debut, is a film that would be accepted by an entire family.

“Kisses included,” he winks. “Nobody will feel inhibited watching ‘Love Aaj Kal’. No one will hesitate walking into the film with his family. All that is potentially objectionable in the film in the strictest of sense has been taken care of in the first promo. If you have warmed up on it, rest assured you will love ‘Love Aaj Kal’,” the filmmaker said.

“Love Aaj Kal” is his third love story after “Socha Na Tha” and the blockbuster “Jab We Met”.

But there were people around Ali who weren’t too comfortable with the idea of showing Saif trying to hold Deepika’s butt, then share an unabashed kiss with her in the car and also mouth Hinglish expletives on a date right in the promo itself.

“They thought that people may get an impression that the film was only about these things but I had my own viewpoint,” explains Ali.

“My argument is that audiences are really smart. They pretty much see the intention of the filmmaker and make up their mind to watch the film accordingly. We better start taking them seriously rather than attempt at fooling them by considering ourselves over smart,” he says.

To substantiate his claim, Ali goes on to share an anecdote from his experience during the making of “Jab We Met”, which starred Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.

“Remember the sequence in the second half of the film when Kareena curses her ex-boyfriend on phone? She goes on to say ‘Teri Maa Ki’ and a lot more. Did the audience feel awkward? Not at all. In fact they laughed during the entire scene and not a single soul came and told me that he/she felt offended by the language,” Ali reasons.

The director, however, admits that for “Love Aaj Kal”, the prime target audience is the younger crowd.

“And that’s more by accident rather than planned,” he says. “The film caters to them mainly because it’s this age group that goes and sees films in theatres. Due to this, even when I am conceptualising a film and then putting it on celluloid, I feel safe from my target audience perspective,” he explains.

With music by Pritam and lyrics by Irshad Kamil, “Love Aaj Kal” is set for a July 31 release.

Saif On The Dilemma Of Doing Torrid Love Scenes With Kareena

Doing love scenes with Kareena for Rensil d’Silva’s film was not as easy as Saif would have thought.

How far to go with the comfort level? That was Saif’s dilemma. Though they’ve acted together in J.P Dutta’s LOC and Yashraj Films’ Tashan, Saif Ali Khan had so far not done intimate scenes with his lady-love Kareena.

But in Rensil d’Silva’s film, which he insists on calling Jehad, Saif finally gets up-close and personal with the love of his life.

Says Saif, “It’s a love story; a very passionate story, with a relevant and disturbing theme. And yes, there’re kissing scenes. See, Rensil is shooting a very real and contemporary film. We can’t have flowers touching one another to show intimacy. At the same time we wouldn’t do anything that would make us squirm while watching the film with our parents. So, there’re scenes of kissing and intimacy which have been done tastefully and within the limits of decorum.”

Saif says he had to be constantly conscious of the fact that it was the woman he loved; to whom, he was making love to on screen.

“Obviously having her as my co-star made it easier to be intimate. And it would be the easiest thing in the world for me to say I’ve done intimate scenes with other co-stars and doing them with Kareena was the same. But that won’t be true. Having her with me made me feel more responsible. I didn’t want to end showing off my relationship by accentuating the intimacy. So it was a double-edged sword. At the end of the day we’re all actors. But this was different. If we had to do the same scenes with other co-stars we may not have been as comfortable. Yes. Definitely I was more comfortable sharing intimacy with Kareena on screen than I was with other actors. ”

Considering the film belongs more to Saif, is he happy to see Kareena take the backseat? “It’s hard to say whose film it is. It’s her movie as much as mine. Hers’ is a great role with great dramatic potential.”

Now having completed Rensil’s film Saif and Kareena are off on their mysterious holiday. “We’re flying out of New York this week, stopping over at London, a city we both love for a few days and then we’re in Italy for our holiday. …Yeah one likes to be a bit private about the holidays. But then in this day age nothing is private. And I’m not Johnny Depp to have stalkers following me to my holiday. I don’t think Indians fans are that obsessive. And if some Indian fan follows us to Italy he should be applauded for his resilience.”

Fatka and Jhatka in Love Aaj Kal

Love Aaj Kal is the dream project of Saif Ali Khan, being his home production film.

We heard they had lots of fun during the shoot but there were few incidents which created a bit panic situation.

Our sources reveal that, “The film had almost come to an end but suddenly an incident took place where we have to re shoot 4-5 scenes as the camera broke down.”

“The crew was surprised when they learnt that suddenly the sequences that they have shot with the actors have been vanished. They got a new camera of worth Rs. 5 lakhs and had to shot all over again. It was one of the most important sequences of the flick,” adds the source.

Talking about the Jhatka, our khabroo reveals that, “While shooting for a melody number with Saif, Deepika had a great fall from the stage. It was a panic situation but everyone felt relief when she got up and said that “I’m fine’.”

It was the masti number, Chori Bazari…, “In the song she was suppose act as a drunker and while doing this she lost the balance, hurting herself,” concludes the source.

Now Saifu must have realised that it’s not halwa to producer a film. Now everyone including the actor himself is just waiting for the release with Box office result.
