Bad Boy Salman celebrates Rose Day with kids!

Bollywood’s most handsome Khan takes his time out to bring a spark in the lives of the less fortunate children. Recently, he was in Hinduja Hospital to celebrate Rose day with the little ones suffering from the most dreaded disease.
Children were very excited to meet their hero when they were informed about Sallu joining them soon at the function, for which they had to wait really long. Eventually when the most wanted star arrived, it was truly a moment of boundless joy for the kids. Salman interacted with the children and also danced with them on few of his own peppy numbers. Tiny tots could not contain their happiness and were hopping with Sallu baba to the beats of the songs. Sallu also met the other cancer patients in the ward.
Had anti-Salman junta witness those smiles that Sallu brought on the faces of the little angels; they would have forgiven him for all his sins.

Dance Premier League a unique dance format that is soon to go on air on Sony Entertainment Television has been creating news all through its audition

Dance Premier League a unique dance format that is soon to go on air on Sony Entertainment Television has been creating news all through its audition phases. At the on-going auditions of Dance Premier League, Bebo was seen cheering the Mumbai aspirants amidst lots of fun, frolic and fanfare. Kareena came to support and encourage the West Zone team on Dance Premier League and promote her film “Main Aurr Mrs Khanna’.
When we asked her about what does she expect on the show, she said, “I enjoy dance reality shows to others, and I hope a lot of people will dance to my tunes! It’s a great platform for young talent to showcase their dancing skills.”
Ironically a lot of contestants chose to dance on her beau Saifu’s numbers from his latest hit Love Aaj Kal… well smart ones we say!

Priyanka Chopra follows in her mum’s footsteps!

Playing dozen of characters in Ashutosh Gowariker’s “What’s Your Rashee’ gave Piggy Chops stressful moments all the time, while shooting for the film, but one such character that she easily picked was Sanjana.
The character in the film is of a Virgo girl who is a medico. Having a doc at home in her mother made it easier for her to portray the character. “Dr. Pooja Goradia is a doctor, and as my mother is also a doctor I have tried to fashion out her mannerism in the film. I remember when I was a child my mother use to dress up in shalwaar-kurta, wear bindi and kohl hurriedly in car, as she was married, so it was comparatively easier,” she shares.
So finally, Mrs. Chopra will have the delight to see herself in her daughter!

Priyanka goes ga-ga about Ashu Sir!

With Ashutosh Gowariker’s “What’s Your Rashee’ Priyanka has definitely proved her versatility as an actor, but another reason that took her off to cloud nine is that- the film makes her the first and the only female in the world to do 12 characters in a film!
Bollywood is brimming with talent so why only Priyanka for this part in the film? Ashutosh who has been particular about his cast gives good reason, “I have seen Priyanka’s films, where she has done wide range of characters from The Hero: Love Story of a Spy to Aitraaz, and I believe it’s her natural craft that makes the characters look so authentic, and so I chose her to do the multiple-characters in my film. She has done it beautifully.”
Piggy Chops too is head-over-heals in love with her director. “Ashu sir is technically very sound; he does his homework in detail. His 60 percent of the film is ready on paper itself before commencing the shoots. While doing this film I got to know the importance of pre-production. I would ask him anything, and he would have the answer…” she goes on.
As of now the film is sent to Guinness book of world record to register Piggy Chops’ out-of-ordinary attempt!

Bigg Boss 3 pays Big Bucks to Big B!

The most expensive actor of the industry, Amitabh Bachchan is getting pricy with an astronomical rise in the amount that he will be getting for Big Boss 3. He is the highest paid actor on small screen now, beating the Khans and Kumars of Bollywood.
“Initially it was decided that Bigg B will be receiving the amount of Rupees 1.5 crore per episode, but at the eleventh hour his price was hiked to Rupees 2.5 crore,” chirps the source.
Elaborating more on the information, our source adds, “There will be 84 episodes of Bigg Boss 3 and according to that ratio, Mr. Bachchan has become the highest paid host on television. Akshay Kumar and SRK were paid 1 crore per episode for their shows Khatron Ke Khiladi and Paanchvi Pass respectively.”
Salman’s price was hiked up for the second season of Dus Ka Dum. “For the first season of DKD, he received an amount of Rs. 80, 00,000 while in the second season his price was raised to 1 crore,” quips our khabroo.
Money talks need we say more on who still rules Bollywood and Television TRPs!

Aishwarya Rai and Neeta Lulla go from friends to foe!

Aishwarya Rai and Neeta Lulla go from friends to foe! In the glamour world, friendships can sour anytime. Such is the case with Aishwarya Rai and Neeta Lulla. The duo had been friends for 11 years until their friendship went bad. The disagreements between them started on the sets of Jodhaa Akbar where Ash and Neeta had a difference of opinion over her outfits in the film. Ash didn’t even go to Neeta’s show afterwards, where she launched her daughter. The final blow was when Neeta asked Sushmita Sen to model for her and not Ash.
And while Ash is appearing in a number of films, she has chosen designers Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi instead of Neeta. Neeta has worked with Ash on a number of films like Umrao Jaan, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Taal, etc. She has even designed Ash’s clothes in the Cannes film festival. When Neeta was asked about the problem with Ash, she retorted back and refused to answer.

Akshay knows the way to a woman’s heart!

Well look’s like music is the mood of the moment for actor Akshay Kapoor. We hear Akshay who was recently seen in Vishal Pandya’s THREE, is now learning guitar.
While the actor is all set for his forthcoming dance based movie Fast Forward that releases on 25th September, interestingly its not dance; but music that has caught his fancy and the man is now learning guitar. Although, he is excited about learning the instrument, he realized in the process that it is not a cakewalk after all!
“I have just recently started learning the guitar. It’s surely not as easy as I thought, especially when it comes to getting your fingers practically numb. But I’ve always wanted to strum the guitar like a pro and hope to learn it soon enough.”
But looks like the man has more reason than what it appears. When asked about his sudden interest, he jokes, “Well it’s also one of the easiest ways of getting into a woman’s heart too!”
Looks like someone’s trying hard to get the right note!

I’m scared to be a mother now: Rakhi Sawant

Rakhi Sawant got engaged to Toronto-based businessman Elesh Parujanwala on national television and they are now learning the hardships of parenting on a reality show being shot here. The item girl confesses she is jittery about marriage and motherhood after having to change diapers and sing lullabies for a baby boy.

“I am very scared of being a mother now. I don’t know what will happen when it happens in real life,” Rakhi said .

Rakhi is participating in NDTV Imagine’s show “Pati Patni Aur Woh” with her fiance Elesh.

The duo, along with four other celebrity couples, have been relocated to five individual villas here and they have to take care of infants as well as adolescents in the course of the show that goes on air Sep 28.

Rakhi and Elesh, who seemed quite comfortable in each other’s company, are quite upset with their experience so far after playing parents to an infant named Jai under constant vigilance of six cameras in the house.

“It’s been a very bad experience till now. It’s like ‘aasmaan se gira khajoor mein atka’. There is no enjoyment here. The only enjoyment is probably that we are together,” said Rakhi, who is sporting a new hairdo that she called “cute and Barbie-like”.

“It’s very difficult. We haven’t even got married yet. I had never imagined I’ll ever have to take care of kids like this and that too manage a kid who only cries and doesn’t sleep. I had to change nappies when the kid pees and poops. It was disgusting. I didn’t eat food for two days after that and couldn’t even sleep properly,” she whined.

The item girl-turned-actress and her fiance, whom she chose in a ’swayamvar’ on national television, are also distressed with the fact that in the process of taking care of the child, they hardly get time to know more about each other.

Said Elesh: “Finding little things about each other is the last thing on our list because there is a kid to take care of. Whatever time we have to ourselves, we either say ‘why don’t you take a shower or watch the child, or take a nap or let’s make something quickly or clean the house’. That’s all.

“We had thought we will learn a lot about each other through this show. But instead we are learning about kids and running a household.”

That is also a reason for their marriage being put on hold indefinitely.

“Wedding is a far-fetched talk right now. I have to settle down for now. And this is just our beginning. We are gradually getting to know each other. This show is teaching us a lot about life and ourselves,” said Elesh.

Added Rakhi: “Wedding is surely a long way (off).”

Rakhi is also upset at missing out the fun of receiving compliments for her dance with actress Rani Mukerji in Yash Raj Films’ just released “Dil Bole Hadippa”.

“I haven’t got any feedback. There’s no time to see TV and there is no cable connection here,” she rued as she snuggled up in Elesh’s arms.

The other four celebrity couples participating in the show are Shilpa Saklani-Apurva Agnihotri, Juhi Parmar-Sachin Shroff, Mouni Roy-Gaurav Chopra and Gurmeet Chaudhary-Debina Bonnerjee.

Why Gowariker cast Priyanka for 12 roles in ‘…Rashee’

Bollywood director Ashutosh Gowariker, whose “What’s Your Rashee?” premiered at the Toronto Film Festival here Saturday, said he chose Priyanka Chopra to play the role of 12 brides-in-waiting to rule out beauty as a dominant theme in the film.

In “What’s Your Rashee?” (What’s your sun sign?), which is based on Madhu Rye’s Gujarati novel “Kimball Ravenswood”, Priyanka plays the role of 12 girls who meet bride-hunting NRI Yogesh Patel played by Hurman Baweja.

Yogesh, who has been flown in from Chicago by his parents to get married within just 10 days on the advice of the family astrologer, gets responses to his matrimonial advertisement from 165 girls. But since he cannot meet all of them in 10 days, he picks one from each sun sign to meet.

Asked why he didn’t pick 12 different actresses for the 12 roles, Gowariker said at a press conference here: “If I had cast 12 different actresses, the audience would have wanted the fairest to win (Yogesh’s hand) and thus beauty would have taken importance.”

But he didn’t want the choice of bride to be made on the basis of the beauty, he said.

“I didn’t want beauty to play an important role. When I read the novel, I thought why not have the same girl play the 12 parts? I felt that if I cast 12 different girls, beauty will take precedence. To rule out beauty as a factor, I wanted to assure the audience that Yogesh is going to get the same girl.

“Once you are sure about it, you just sit back and watch how the relationship develops between Yogesh and each girl with a different sun sign, and which sun sign he finally chooses,” the filmmaker said.

Gowariker said his film is as much about sun signs and romance as empowerment of India women.

“‘What’s your Rashee?’ may seem a romantic comedy, but layers below it is about the girl getting the chance to speak her heart, and express her desires and ambitions. The film reflects the empowerment of women in India today,” he explained.

The director said the film has deepened his interest in astrology.

“Before making this film, I was concerned only with my own sun sign Aquarius. But after the film, I now understand that each sign has its own qualities. My way of looking at even my childhood friends has changed.

“If my friend is a Cancerian, I now take care not to offend him, knowing that his sun sign is the emotional type. So I think in romance and relationships, that extra astrological information can be helpful for more bonding,” he said.

The film is set for commercial release Friday.

David Dhawan has acting dreams - and Govinda’s in them!

Known for tickling the funny bone of movie buffs, director David Dhawan says he wouldn’t mind facing the camera - though only along with his favourite actor Govinda.

“I don’t mind doing a scene or two in a film if offered or may be in my own film. But one thing is for sure - it has to be with Govinda. I will act only if he is there in the scene too,” Dhawan told in an interview .

As a director, Dhawan collaborated with Govinda for the first time in 1993 for the hit movie “Aankhen” and they churned out one hit after another such as “Hero No.1″, “Jodi No. 1″ and “Coolie No. 1″. And their recent success was “Partner” that also had Salman Khan in a pivotal role.

Talking about their 16-year relationship, Dhawan said: “Govinda and I trust each other to the core. I never read out the script to him, he has never asked for that. He just does the film. Similarly, I give him a lot of space while shooting a scene so that he can do it the way he wants to.”

Now the two have collaborated once again for the laugh riot “Do Knot Disturb”, which is being produced by Big Pictures. Along with Govinda, the film also stars Sushmita Sen, Lara Dutta and Riteish Deshmukh.

The film revolves around a rich businessman, who in order to hide his extra marital affair with a model bribes a waiter into pretending to be her boyfriend. Mistaken identities and misunderstandings follow. It is slated to release Oct 2.

The director, whose real name is Rajinder Dhawan, maintains that his films are not about stories but screenplays. He revealed that for “Do Knot Disturb” he took cues from real life incidents.

“I have taken cues from society and people around me for the film. In real life, you get to know a lot and various things that you observe are used in your films in some way or the other.

“I’m sure someone or the other in the hall will identify with the film and realise that it is his/her story,” said Dhawan.

While talking about the film, Dhawan had high praise for Riteish with whom he has worked for the first time.

“I didn’t expect that Riteish will turn out to be such a good actor. When we worked on the first day I felt that he has potential. Then slowly I realised that he is quite good and I should work hard on him. He gives his best.”

Even though he is known to specialise in comic capers and his next after “Do Knot Disturb” is another comedy, “Hook Ya Crook”, Dhawan says he is looking forward to venturing into other genres as well.

“I don’t plan to stick to only comedies. I want to get to the emotional angle of films as well. I am in the thinking process and am looking forward to doing something different also. Let us see when that thought takes shape,” responded Dhawan.

Zayad khan Gifts Kylie a Sari

Zayed Khan and Kylie Minogue have made it a point to keep in touch even after completing the shooting of Blue. But we before you come to any conclusion we need to clarify that it’s strictly friendship here.
“Zayed and Kylie got a long like a house on fire. The two shared an excellent rapport and those who have seen the rushes of the film say that their chemistry is pretty visible on the screen too.” Zayed gifted Kylie a designer sari on the last day of the shoot.
The gift took Kylie by surprise more so because it was a sari. She wondered how did Zayed know the size that’d befit her. Kylie later even asked Zayed about it. Zayed told her, “It was just that I kept my wife’s size in mind. Kylie was touched by Zayed’s gesture,” said our source.

Popularity factor has gone up -Mona Vasu

The jungle queen, Mona Vasu is on cloud nine after winning the reality show Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao. The actress in a tête-à-tête talks about her experience and take away from the show. She also converse of how her popularity factor has raised and transformed her from an introvert to extrovert in real life.
How does it feel to become a jungle Queen?
Obviously I feel good. We all have gone through hardship in the jungle but at the end only one could win and it was me. I really thank my audiences and fans for supporting me all through my journey in the jungle
How has been your journey in the jungle?
It has been a very exciting journey with lots of ups and downs for me. There were lots of things that I wasn’t prepared for like being on camera for 24X7.I am a very private person and loved my space so living with people and on camera was one thing I was not sure about. But at the end I managed to live and win the show too. I took up the show as I’m an adventurous person and the show had lots of challenges and thus I was very kicked about the whole thing. All I can say is that it was a roller coaster ride for me.
The most memorable moment in the jungle
There are many but if you want me to elaborate one incident than it would be the picnic on Independence Day. We all were given freedom for 5 to 6 hours and had fun on the beach too. Also we had a good meal on that day which was nice for a change. Another memorable moment was a fashion show in the jungle. Adding another to the feather of the memory was some stupid things like staying awake for long at nights and craving for tea, though it was a different case where we had to sleep without fulfilling our carve.
The most embarrassing moment in the jungle
There was an embarrassing moment in the jungle but that is too censored to talk about. All I can say was it is related to our changing room which was too small and the cloth hanging on the room was 10 inch uplifted from the ground so it was difficult for us and we had to be careful while bending too. (grins)
Who do you think was your true friend there?
The first person was Ishq Bector, he became good friend and then it was Anaida. We had become really close friends and still we all three meet. Another person that I would like to name is Chitrakshi, she is so positive and nice girl. She always stood up for others and that’s what I like about her. Aman is another one to be added in the list thought we did not talk much. Last but not the least is Negar. She was the hard worker and a very sweet girl too.
What did you like and dislike about the show?
Likes:- The challenges and staying experience in the jungle. I also loved those moments where I got to test my patience and endurance. Now I feel much stronger and wiser too.
Disliked:- The food which we were given in the jungle i.e. either Soya rice or dal rice was bit difficult to gulp in. Basically I like to eat Soya rice but Chetan loved dal rice, so we decided that thrice a week we will have dal and other three days Soya. When ever dal used to come, I had to literally swallow it. Another factor I disliked was the uncut bathing scenes.
What else did you gain from the jungle besides winning the show?
I have learnt to be more social. Before this show happened, I was very much with my self and most of the time use to feel lazy to go out and meet friends. After staying with so many different people in the jungle, this experience has transformed me and now I feel more active than ever. Even my food pattern has changed and I have realized that too many spices spoil the taste of the vegetables.
Besides you who do you think deserved to win?
I feel who ever came in final three that’s Chetan and Anaida with me are truly a winners. The winner was decided at last on the audience voting and I was thankfully their favourite but that does not take anything away from them (Chetan and Anaida). In short all three of us are winner I feel.
Do you think this show has provided the extra fame to your name?
I don’t know since I have come back, I have been busy interacting with media and fans. But yes people now recognize me from the jungle and keep asking me about how I did the entire task and about whole occurrence in the show. All I can say is that popularity factor has gone up for me. But at the end I wish that what every work comes my way, I want to enjoy it
So what is next project after your jungle trip?
I have just recently returned from the jungle so definitely out with family is my priority but yes I do want to go back to my fiction shows. I did get a lot of offers but there was nothing that interests me. All I can say that I did a reality show for the experience but to be frank enough I don’t want to go away from the fiction shows. So let’s see what comes next in my way.

Capricorn girl’s role in ‘…Rashee’ was toughest: Priyanka

Priyanka Chopra, who is eyeing a Guinness record by playing 12 brides-in-waiting in Ashutosh Gowariker’s “What’s Your Rashee?”, says this is one feat she would love to tell her grandchildren about. The actress revealed that playing the Capricorn teenager was the most difficult of all the roles.

In “What’s Your Rashee?”, which is based on Madhu Rye’s Gujarati novel “Kimball Ravenswood”, Priyanka plays the roles of 12 girls who meet bride-hunting NRI Yogesh Patel played by Hurman Baweja.

“The role of the Capricorn girl was toughest for me,” said the actress, who walked the red carpet at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival here Saturday with co-star Hurman and Gowariker.

In the film, the Capricorn girl is named Jhankhana who is just 15 years old.

“To play a 15-year-ol girl without make-up or special effects to make me look younger was the most challenging role for me. I had to look 15 years old just through my body language. I didn’t want any of the l2 girls to be caricatures or not look real,” Priyanka said.

The former Miss World said she had to make subtle variationS in her walk, talk and mannerisms to portray each of the 12 characters. “I used a lot of voice variations, but at the same time I didn’t want to sound fake.

“The only thing I could change was clothes, hair, the body language and the way I speak,” she said.

The Bollywood actress, who is set to enter the Guinness Book of Records for playing 12 female roles in a film, laughed and said: “It is not official yet. Yes, it is great even to be considered that I am the first female actor in the world to have played that many parts. It is fantastic…it is something that I would like to tell my grandkids.”

Priyanka said playing multiple roles in the movie was “one of the greatest six months of my life. It was the most daunting task of my life so far”.

But she added she was lucky to get multiple roles very early in her career.

“Usually, the actors who have played multiple roles have been very experienced. For me, this is a huge honour.”

Priyanka said she now believes in sun sign compatibility in her real life as well.

“Before this movie, I used to read horoscopes in the morning just out of curiosity and to get some fun. However, my logical mind refused to believe how everyone in the entire world can be clubbed into just 12 groups.”

But once she started doing this movie and researching on the characteristics of each sun sign, she said, she started believing that human beings under same sun signs have some common traits.

“I am a Cancerian born in July…I have met so many people from across the world under this sun sign. Uncannily, they have similar characteristics like me - being emotional, homely. There is something about it (sun signs) for sure,” Priyanka said.

Production of Indian Summer halted over Nehru-Edwina affair

Portrayal of the affair between Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first prime minister, and Lady Edwina Mountbatten, wife of last British viceroy of India, has apparently halted the production of Cate Blanchett starrer “Indian Summer”.

India Government officials have asked to scrutinize the script to review how the Nehru-Edwina affair will be played out, reports suggest.

Mountbatten’s daughter Pamela also wrote about Nehru’s relationship with her mother in her memoir “India Remembered”.

Richard Hough’s biography “Mountbatten: Hero of Our Times” also talks about this affair. When Edwina Cynthia Annette Mountbatten died on February 21, 1960, India’s parliament passed a condolence resolution.

Oscar winner Blanchett will reportedly play Edwina in this upcoming movie, which will portray last days of British rule in India. Golden Globe winner Hugh Grant also reportedly stars in the film.

Acclaimed Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed, while welcoming Hollywood attempts to show India’s history on big screen, urged the filmmakers to portray India’s historical events authentically.

Zed, who is chairperson of Indo-American Leadership Confederation, in a statement in Nevada (USA), asked them not to re-imagine India’s history just for mercantile greed. To be released in 2011, the Universal Pictures drama will be reportedly directed by BAFTA winner Joe Wright and written by Oscar nominated William Nicholson, and will show last British Viceroy Lord Mountbatten handing over the power during the summer of 1947 to Nehru.

It is based on the book “Indian Summer: The Secret History of the End of an Empire” by Alex von Tunzelmann.

‘Dil Bole Hadippa!’ a huge let down

Film: “Dil Bole Hadippa!”
Cast: Rani Mukerji, Shahid Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Poonam Dhillon, Rakhi Sawant, Sheryln Chopra; Director: Anuraag Singh
Somewhere down the line in this mish-mash of “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi”, “Chak De” and what have you, Shahid Kapoor, looking as intense as a man who has just discovered he has acute molar ache, scowls at Rani and says, “You should be an actress in films”.

Actress she is. And a highly competent one. Rani has worked really hard on getting the Sardar-ji’s act together. At times she’s quite funny and poignant. But her attempts go waste in a film that seems to move in a rudderless stupor.

Rani is sorely let down in her made-to-order vehicle by a script that’s as phony and pasted-on as the moustache she pastes on to infiltrate the all-boy’s cricket team helmed by a Britain-returned dude from a broken family.

Shahid’s dad Anupam Kher lives in Amritsar, while his mom, Poonam Dhillon, lives in London.

Backgrounds are not very high in the list of this messy and annoying mishmash about cross-dressing and sporting spirit. While Shahid’s character we know is from a broken home, only god and the scripwriter know where Rani’s character Veera/Veer comes from.

While Hillary Swank, as a girl dressed as a guy, got the Oscar for “Boys Don’t Cry”, Rani misses her award-winning turn by a wide margin, thanks to a script that meanders like a bumbling bumblebee which doesn’t know whom to sting.

The story of the spirited girl’s sprint into a men’s game and into the coach’s heart lacks bite and humour. The dialogues are ultra-pedestrian, some of the exchanges between the rustic Rani and the posh Shahid shamelessly taken from “Jab We Met”.

What were the makers of this film thinking? Not much, as we can easily see in the slithering progression of the material and dismaying lack of motivation. After the interval, the wobbly narration just collapses in a tired heap, with scenes in a nautanki featuring Rakhi Sawant plunging to the bottom-most rung of mediocrity.

The climactic cricket match between India and Pakistan is as exciting as watching “Kaminey” with the soundtrack turned off. In “Dil Bole Hadippa!”, the soundtrack is so loud it drowns any finer point that the narration may possess.

Don’t waste your time looking for silver linings in this dreadful cricket film. Someone said cricket is a game played by 12 fools and watched by 12,000 fools. No we know what he meant.

Celina is Upendra’s fan

Another fan to join Upendra’s long list of fans is Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley who is his co-star in the upcoming Kannada film, Shrimathi. She believes that apart from being one of the hottest stars in the south, he is very composed and has a lot of knowledge about films. She shares a great rapport with his wife and actress Priyanka.

Om Puri Is The Terror Attack Mastermind In Kurbaan

Naseeruddin Shah ostensibly played a terror mastermind in Neeraj Pandey’s A Wednesday. But finally it turned out to be the role of messiah on a mission to cleanse society. Now Naseeruddin’s archrival Om Puri has taken on the role of an unapologetic hardcore terrorist in Rensil d’Silva’s Kurbaan.
Bollywood characters derived from headlines, specially ones that are taken from extremist news reports, are now being seen as tricky territory.
In Rensil d’Silva’s hushed and much talked-about Kurbaan, Om Puri plays a hardcore terrorist who masterminds a massive terror attack in the US.
Surely a politically incorrect role for an actor, if ever there was one! In fact Irrfan Khan had said no to playing a global terrorist in Kurbaan.
Playing a terrorist automatically puts the actor in the suspicious list on the international airports. And, so what if it’s just a part in a film?
But Om is fearless. “I’m aware of the repercussions. I’m also aware others actors turndown parts of terrorists. But I’ve no such reservations. A role is a role. We cannot be moral and judgmental about the characters we play. In Kurbaan, I play the terror mastermind, a fully committed jehaadi who is ready to sacrifice everything including his wife (Kirron Kher) for the cause.”
It’s a role with deep reverberations. But Om is prepared for the backlash. “I played a radical mullah mouthing rabid dialogues in Jagmohan Mundhra’s Shoot On Sight. It was just a role. I think our audiences are mature enough to understand this.”
However the audiences’ level of maturity seems to have gone for a toss. Om has apparently started receiving warnings from fundamentalist organizations about playing an extremist.
Om says he won’t be deterred. “I played a Pakistani in Charlie Wilson’s War, and East Is East. And now in October, I go into the sequel West Is West with the same cast. This time Vijay Raaz and Ila Arun have been added. Is it dangerous to experiment with morality in your actors? Let it be. In my new release Baabarr, I played a corrupt colorful cop who doesn’t think tweaking the law is a big deal. It’s good to enter the hearts and minds of people who live by their own weird morality.”

What was SRK doing on the sets of ‘Blue’?

Everyone on the sets of Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd.’s “Blue’ was in for a pleasant surprise yesterday afternoon when none other than Shah Rukh Khan dropped on the sets to meet Akshay Kumar!
The team of “Blue’ was shooting for a special number “Fikrana’ and the BLUE theme song with Akshay Kumar and Zayed Khan.
While the crew was in the middle of the shoot, SRK walked on to the sets and greeted Akshay Kumar. The crowds went berserk seeing the two super stars together. The duo then stepped into Akki’s vanity van where they spent nearly 15-20 minutes chatting with each other.
An eyewitness says, “We knew SRK was shooting nearby, but no one expected him to come on the sets of Blue. He surprised everyone including Akshay. They both even posed together for photographs!”
“While we were shooting for Blue on Floor 1 at Filmcity, SRK was shooting on Floor 12 for an automobile commercial. Though the distance is considerably large, Shahrukh Khan actually walked down all the way to meet Akshay. That was simply incredible!” says a source from the production team.
Looks like a new friendship is brewing in B-town!
